welcome to Bangalore

some simple maths
A guy leaves from his home at 8.20 am in the morning for office. He rides his bike for 15 kms and reaches his office at 10.30 am. What was the speed of the
guy ? Or many kms did he travel in an hour ?

i will give you the answers too.
8.66 kms/hour.

No prizes for guessing that the guy was me. I left from home to office at 8.20 am in the morning. Almost every intersection had a few vehicles waiting their
turn to move. I didnt have a clear idea of what is going to happen till i saw police men at every 50 feets on the ring road.

3 stops at a single signal. nothing unusual for a bangalorean.

Hosur road was flodded with vehicles. cars buses, autos, bikes, cycles etc. nothing new.

Till i came to silk board fly over, it was okay, little more heavy traffic than the normal.

But the cop at the flyover entrance waved me to take left.
You cant enter the flyover. a few more police men were waving off other vehicles to take left.

I stopped by the first cop and asked him "why? "

He gave me a strange look and ignored me. Obviously, he hasnt asked that question to his superior.

Okay, good guys obey orders. I took left.
The 6 lane to Sarjapur was literally overflowing.
No vehicles moving.
Long horns.
smoke.
dust.
Not a police man to be seen.
40 mins to cross 1 km.

i will have to skip breakfast today too. what was that thing about digestive juices forming in your stomach doctor told me lastday ? forget it !

you are not supposed to take the first U turn. they have blocked it with some autorickshaws !
i dint dare to go back to hosur road again. turned right to HSR layout.
No asphalted roads.
gravel.
loose stones.
dust.
again not a poice man in sight.
its all vehicles.
frustrated people inside it.

Stop. What can i do about this ?

the obvious option is wait till the next election. and make sure that my vote is not in favour of them.

Another idea. What happens if i lock by bike in the center of the road, i was here for more than 15 mins, and walk away ?people will curse me. some of them will come, lift my bike and dump it aside.

But what If its a car ? pull your hand brakes. lock your car. make sure that the touch sensitive alarm is turned on. and walk away. The police will come with the crane and move you vehicle to the police station. you can pay the fine say 500 bucks and retreive the car.

But what if 5 people do this ? or 15 ? or 50 ?Imagine what will happen to the road. It will grind to a halt. Blocking the roads in not only meant for political parties or filmstars. We, as the general public, can also do it.

Just put a bumper sticker on your car.

=========================================
*If this car is found locked in the middle of a road,Its as a protest against the lackadaisical approach of the govt on the state of the roads of bangalore.
Join me. stop your car right now.*
=========================================

Finally, there is some movement at the end of the block, i made way through the grass on the side of the road. By then a new path was formed at the side of the road just wide enough for a bike to go.
it was rough. Large stones, slabs etc.

After a while i reached back hosur road again.
the traffic was okay in hosur road.
police men at every 50 feet.
reached office 30 mins late.

welcome to Bangalore, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
